Panaji, Jan. 18 -- The Congress in Goa on Friday registered its protest over Goa Tourism Development Corporation (GTDC) organising Paryatan Mahotsav in Mandrem and wondered how the event was going to help the tourism department in attracting tourists to the state.

Addressing a press conference at the party state headquarter in the city, Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) Chief Spokesperson Sunil Kawathankar said,''Everybody knows that GTDC Chairman Dayanand Sopte, who has left Congress and joined Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), will contest by-election from Mandrem constituency. Now for him tourism is only in Mandrem, nowhere else. The impression has been created that there are no beaches in the state, nor are there any places of interes...
