Chattogram, Jan. 16 -- A housewife was beaten to death allegedly by her husband at Raufabad in the port city on Tuesday.

The deceased was identified as Tahera Begum, 32, a garment worker and wife of Nur Hossain of the area.

Ataur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Bayejid Bostami Police Station, said Nur Hossain picked up a quarrel with Tahera over family feud on Tuesday afternoon.

At one stage, Nur Hossain beat Tahera up mercilessly, leaving her dead on the spot.

Hearing screams of Tahera's children, locals caught Nur Hossain and handed him over to police.

On information, police recovered the body and sent it to local hospital morgue for autopsy.
