India, Jan. 15 -- The diversity of use cases for 5G combined with the stringent and extreme attributes across the use cases, has spurred the development of new RAN architectures. In 5G, the distributed RAN will increasingly disaggregate, resulting in new RAN architectures designed to deliver improved RAN performance, spectral efficiency, and lower total cost of ownership.

However, 5G cannot exist without a transport network to support it. To meet the extreme technology and application performance requirements of 5G, operators will need a future transport network that looks very different from today.
