New Delhi, Feb. 29 -- I ndia, according to many strategic analysts, both at home and abroad, since its independence in 1947, has not accorded adequate priority to one of the most powerful tools which can contribute to enhancing its national strategic interests, namely, military diplomacy. Being traditionally a nation with a firm belief in peaceful coexistence, military diplomacy has not been overly a popular term in the nuance and lexicon of Indian statecraft. However, all powerful nations do fully appreciate the time- honoured dictum that no country can achieve its foreign policy goals and security interests in today's highly stressed strategic environment if it disregards the effective employment of its military instrument.
