Mumbai, Feb. 5 -- The BSE Sensex on Monday advanced 281.33 points to 72,366.96 in the opening session as buying was seen across the board.

The National Stock Exchange (NSE) rose 90.05 points to 21,943.85.

The Sensex registered intraday highs and lows at 72,372.47 and 71,972.77 points, respectively.

The equity market remained strong following gains in Tata Motors, Sun Pharma, and M&M scrips.

The Mid Cap rose by 0.97 pc and the Small Cap by 0.68 pc.

In 30 scrips, 24 advanced while 6 declined.

The gainers were Tata Motors by 7.53 percent to Rs 944.95, Sun Pharma by 2.43 percent to Rs 1451.60, M & M by 1.56 percent to Rs 1690.25, and NTPC by 1.14 percent to Rs 336.30.

The losers were Kotak Bank by 0.71 pc to Rs 1811.05, HDFC Bank by 0.47...
