Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar (Maharashtra), May 4 -- The Maharashtra government has advised all districts, talukas, and village-level government agencies to be vigilant on 'Akshaya Tritiya', when thousands of child brides become victims of early marriages.
Citizens have also been urged to report them confidentially.
According to an official press statement issued on Friday, a District Action Force has been established to prevent child marriage in the district on May 10 especially and at any time for which an action plan has been prepared to eradicate the social evil.
During last year (from April 1, 2023) the action force has succeeded in preventing 75 child marriages in the district so far. A case has been registered in one of them.
