Sylhet, April 27 -- Amidst the boiling heat gripping the nation, residents of Sylhet breathed a sigh of relief as a bout of rain brings some relief from the relentless heat.

Sylhet Meteorological Department recorded 84.4 millimetres of rainfall in the past 24 hours, starting 6pm on Friday to 6pm on Saturday.

Shah Md Sajib Hossain, assistant meteorologist of the Meteorological Department, said that this situation of rainfall may continue.

Meanwhile, Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) forecast rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty or squally wind is likely to occur at one or two places over Chattogram and Sylhet divisions with hails at isolated places in 24 hours commencing 6pm on Saturday.
