BGB detains female 'international smuggler' with 2kg gold
Cox's Bazar, Feb. 10 -- Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) detained a suspected international smuggler with around two kilograms of gold worth over Tk 1.89 crore, at a checkpost in Ramu upazila of Cox's Bazar Saturday.
The detainee is Ulaying Rakhaine, 39. Details about her could not be known.
According to a media release, signed by Lt. Col Syed Wahiduzzaman Tanjid, commandant of the BGB-30 battalion in Ramu, the border force conducted a drive in Morichha joint checkpost in Ramu upazila around 3pm after being tipped-off that an international gang would smuggle a consignment of gold to Bangladesh from Myanmar through border.
As the woman arrived at the checkpost, the BGB personnel challenged her and found 24 gold bars and ornament...
