Dhaka, Feb. 16 -- BGB members arrested 3 smugglers from Panchbibi border area of Joypurhat while smuggling gold from Bangladesh to India. Joypurhat 20 BGB Deputy Commander Major Atiq Hasan confirmed this information at a press conference on Thursday.
He said that 3 smugglers along with 10 gold bars were arrested from the border area of the upazila on Wednesday evening. The arrested are Rahidul Islam (40), Manjur Rahman (42) and Faridul Islam (45) of East Uchna village of Panchbibi upazila.
Based on secret information that gold smugglers are smuggling India's gold from Bangladesh, jawans of 20 BGB battalion were arrested from the spot along with 10 gold bars, 1 motorcycle, 3 mobile phones and 49 thousand 30 rupees in cash.
