Dhaka, May 3 -- The Bangladesh Mahila Parishad has released alarming statistics revealing a disturbing trend of violence against women and girls in April.

According to their report, a total of 193 women and girls were subjected to torture, while 46, including 35 children, fell victim to rape across the country during the month.

The Mahila Parishad's data indicates that among the rape victims, 15 were gang-raped, and tragically, three lost their lives as a result. Shockingly, one girl took her own life following a rape ordeal. Additionally, four women and girls narrowly escaped attempted rape.
