Dhaka, May 8 -- Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has inaugurated Hajj programme of this year through a function at Ashkona Hajj Camp in the city on Wednesday.

The premier also exchanged greetings with the Hajj pilgrims at Ashkona Hajj Camp, local news portals said.

The first hajj flight of this year is scheduled to leave Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka at 7:20 am on Thursday for Jeddah in Saudi Arabia, carrying 419 pilgrims on board.

A total of 85,257 Bangladeshis will be able to perform Hajj this year. Of them, 4,562 will perform hajj under the government management while rest of 80, 695 pilgrims will perform Hajj under the private management.
