Dhaka, April 27 -- The government has formed a 29-member national committee on fish and shrimp to formulate necessary policy aimed at fostering growth in the sector.

Members of the committee, headed by the Prime minister, include 12 ministers and junior ministers from different ministries, including fisheries and livestock, finance, industries, home, food, land and agriculture.

The cabinet division on April 18 issued a gazette notification in this regard.

The committee that will sit at least once a year will give instructions about how to make best use of land and water for fish cultivation with the help of environment-friendly and suitable technology, according to the gazette notification.
