Dhaka, May 2 -- Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) on Thursday slashed the price of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) by Tk 49 for a 12-kg consumer-grade cylinder.

The country's private operators are now required to sell a 12-kg cylinder for Tk 1,393 for the month of May, down from March's retail price of Tk 1,442 per 12-kg cylinder.

The new rates will be effective from 6pm Thursday, said Md Nurul Amin, Chairman of BERC, while announcing the new prices at a press briefing in the BERC hall.
