Dhaka, April 28 -- The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) on Sunday issued another heat alert, forecasting searing temperatures to continue across the country for the next 72 hours.

This marked the fifth heat alert issued this month (April) as on Thursday, the BMD issued the warning for three days which ended on Saturday.

The BMD official said, the ongoing heat wave, sweeping the nation, likely persisting and causing discomfort due to high humidity, according to the local media reports.

For the past few days, mild to very intense heat waves are sweeping over the country.

Temperatures began to increase at the end of March amid a shortfall of rain. The heatwave started on Mar 31 and intensified slowly.
