Dhaka, May 9 -- Squadron Leader Asim Jawad, who died on Thursday in a training fighter plane crash in Chittagong, was a 'Sword of Honour' winning brilliant officer of Bangladesh Air Force.

Jawad succumbed to injuries he received when the YAK130 trainer fighter he was flying caught fire and crashed at Patenga in Chattogram due to mechanical fault.

According to media reports, Jawad passed the SSC exams in 2007 and HSC in 2009 from Savar Cantonment Public School and College with GPA-5. He joined the Bangladesh Air Force in 2010 was commissioned as a pilot officer in December 2011.

Jawad piloted PT-6, L-39ZA, F-7MB, and F-7BGI fighter jets with high efficiency. He was the operational pilot and element leader of the F-7MG1. He received 'Mof...
