The newly constructed Gymnasium was officially declared open and vested in the troops of the Sri Lanka Army Women's Corps (SLAWC) on 02 March 2024. Major General M.K.U.P. Gunaratne RSP ndu psc IG, the Commander, Security Forces - East and Colonel Commandant of SLAWC graced the occasion as the chief guest.
Following the inauguration ceremony, the Colonel Commandant awarded cash prizes to SLAWC sportswomen who performed exceptionally in various sports events at the national and international levels. During the ceremony, the Directorate of Sports awarded cash prizes to twenty seven SLAWC sportswomen.
