8 Sri Lanka Light Infantry (8 SLLI), together with the 'Dompe Surakimu Sri Lanka Buddhist Association,' launched a project to plant 500 herbal saplings at the Palugama Mahamewna Meditation Hermitage on 16 February 2024, in conjunction with the 'Thuru Kepakaru Plantation Programme,' which was conducted island-wide.
The 'Thuru Kepakaru Plantation Programme' is sponsored by S-Lon Lanka Private Company and the Sirasa Media Network. Furthermore, the project in the Dompe area was carried out under the supervision of Major Y.D.N. De Silva RWP RSP, the Commanding Officer of 8 SLLI.
