KATHMANDU, May 6 -- Bagmati province is observing a public holiday today. The meeting of the Council of Ministers has decided to give a public holiday throughout the province today while formally introducing Tamang and Nepali languages as official languages in the province.

Shailendra Man Bajracharya, Minister of Culture, Tourism and Cooperatives of the province announced that Newari and Tamang languages will be introduced as official languages in the province today by organizing a ceremony in Basantpur, Kathmandu.

Following the Council of Ministers' decision on April 24, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Law issued a notice in the gazette confirming the holiday on May 6.
