DEHRADUN, March 14 -- Professor of Government PG College in Uttarkashi Madhu Thapliyal was recently presented with the Outstanding Scientist Award during the sixth Plant Science Researchers Meet at Geeta University in Panipat. On receiving the award, she said it would motivate her to work harder for women's empowerment in the agriculture sector.
She further said that she has been researching Curcumin, a compound found in Turmeric, for the past five years. "Since Uttarakhand has a low production of turmeric, her research aims to improve its production," she added.
This aside, she has been working at the village level to empower women through motivating them to seek jobs.
