KOCHI, Feb. 10 -- Within 24 hours of staging a "massive demonstration" at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi against the Center, the CPI (M) made a turn-around by Friday and said the agitation was not against the BJP Government but was to highlight the plight of Kerala's financial position.

Saji Cherian, the CPI(M) minister for culture and youth affairs, who is described as the loud speaker of Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, told media persons at Thiruvananthapuram that the Jantar Mantar sit-in was to protest against the discrimination shown by the Center towards Kerala.

"The Kerala economy is in ruins as the Centre is throttling the avenues of the State's financial resources. It was not at all a political agitation," said Cherian.
