CUTTACK, March 18 -- Days after the Orissa High Court annulled the election of Mohammed Moquim as the Cuttack-Barabati MLA, the Congress leader has moved the Supreme Court challenging the lower court's verdict.

Moquim has sought the apex court's stay order on the High Court's ruling.

Notably, the High Court gave its verdict while hearing a petition filed by BJD leader Debashish Samantaray, who had challenged the election of Moquim alleging that he suppressed facts with respect to the criminal cases pending against him while filing his nomination papers.

Samantaray had further alleged in the petition that Moquim did not disclose correct facts about his assets and liabilities.
