Kolkata, April 30 -- The Bengal Government on Monday suffered a big blow with the Supreme Court refusing to put a stay on the Calcutta High Court order cancelling appointments of 25,753 school employees including teachers and non-teaching staff.

The only respite the TMC Government got is that the Apex Court stayed a CBI probe against West Bengal government officials involved in the teachers' recruitment scam.

While staying the CBI probe against the Government functionaries - that could well have brought top level politicians into the ambit of inquiry - the Bench of Chief Justice DY Chandrachud, Justice JB Pardiwala and Justice Manoj Misra however observed that prima facie it looked like a scam.
