New delhi, March 15 -- The decks are cleared for the announcement of Lok Sabha elections schedule after former IAS officers Gyanesh Kumar and Sukhbir Singh Sandhu were on Thursday appointed as Election Commissioners completing the quorum of the election watchdog which was necessitated due to the sudden resignation of Arun Goel as the lone EC last week.

The Nirvachan Sadan was left with only Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Rajiv Kumar while one was already vacant and with the two appointments, now the body is complete to take the call to announce the poll schedule.

Sources said general elections can be announced on Friday following which the model code of conduct will come into effect.
