New Delhi, Feb. 16 -- Farmers in Punjab began their four-hour "rail roko" stir by squatting on rail tracks at some locations, causing inconvenience to passengers on Thursday even as the third round of meeting between the Centre and farmers' organisations in Chandigarh went on till late at night.

There were no reports of clashes between farmers and Haryana security personnel at the two Punjab and Haryana border points -Shambhu and Khanauri - on the third day of the protest. Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar criticised the "method" adopted by Punjab farmers to press their demands, suggesting that they were attempting to march to Delhi like an army on the offensive.
