THRISSUR, March 12 -- Padmaja Venugopal, daughter of late Chief Minister of Kerala and Congress strongman K Karunakaran made a startling disclosure on Monday against the leadership of the Grand Old Party that it was discriminating against Sanatana Dharma.

"I was asked not to wear sandal paste on the forehead. It is a custom and tradition dating back to thousands of years among the Hindus and I was forced not to wear the same for reasons known only to the Congress leadership," Padmaja told reporters at Thrissur on Monday.

She had left the Congress and joined the BJP last week which caused a mini political earthquake in the State. Padmaja was in Thrissur for campaigning for the BJP candidate Suresh Gopi, the film actor-turned-politician.
