BHUBANESWAR, Feb. 9 -- Excise officials busted a contraband smuggling racket by arresting five youths from Bihar who were allegedly trying to smuggle ganja from Odisha by train.

All the five accused had procured the contraband from Kandhamal district and reached Bhubaneswar by bus. As liquor is now banned in Bihar, there is a rise in demand for ganja, especially sourced from Odisha.

Of late, the peddlers are coming up with new strategies and means to smuggle ganja from Odisha to Bihar.

An official said, "The accused had procured the ganja from Kandhamal. They had packed the ganja consignment in airbags and were trying to smuggle it to Bihar via train. We have seized 30 kg of ganja from them."
