Bhubaneswar, April 26 -- In a remarkable unearthing, palaeontologists have discovered a massive fossil of a snake in Gujarat being reported as the 'largest snake' that ever existed! The researchers at the Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee had reported that the snake had likely lived 47 million years ago during the middle Eocene period. The reptile was around 49 feet long and weighed around 1000 kgs. The fossil was found in Kutch of Gujarat and the reptile was named Vasuki Indicus, after the King of Snakes, Vasuki, mentioned in Indian Mythology.
