Bhubaneswar, April 27 -- The regional weather department on Saturday sounded 'red alert' for the Twin City of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar, amidst extreme heat wave conditions. The Regional Meteorological Centre here labeled Cuttack and Bhubaneswar as 'red alert' areas with people at the risk of heat stroke and illness.

Issuing a warning alert, the weather department urged people to take 'extreme care' and avoid stepping out of the house under the scorching sun. On Saturday, Bhubaneswar witnessed mercury level of 41.2 degree Celsius by 11:30 am, even before mid-noon.
