Bhubaneswar, May 8 -- Odisha has so far recorded 786 heatstroke cases from various parts while sunstroke has claimed three lives this summer. These numbers were officially confirmed on Wednesday.

Such cases have become a cause of concern for the people and the Health Department.

As per reports, there are allegations that 20 people have died of sunstroke in the state.

However, the Health Department has confirmed three deaths due to sunstroke. The fatalities were reported from Dhenkanal, Balasore and Mayurbhanj while investigations on 17 alleged cases are underway.

Odisha Health Director, Bijay Mohapatra said, "For the last three days, temperatures in the state have come down by 2 to 3 Degrees Celsius."
