Bhubaneswar, April 26 -- Former Zimbabwe all-rounder Guy Whittall recently survived a leopard attack narrowly, thanks to the help of his dog. However, he needed emergency surgery after being mauled by the big cat.

As per reports, the 51-year-old former cricketer was attacked while hiking through the conservancy he operates in Zimbabwe's Humani region. His dog, Chikara, saved him. However, he sustained severe injuries in the process.

After suffering severe injuries in the unfortunate incident, the former cricketer was airlifted to a hospital in Harare for surgery.
