SHILLONG, May 7 -- Meghalaya is reeling from the aftermath of heavy rainfall, cyclonic storms and hailstorms that have wreaked havoc across several parts of the state since Sunday (May 05).

Although no injuries have been reported, hailstorms have left a trail of destruction in different parts of Meghalaya, affecting over 1000 individuals and damaging 483 houses.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued warnings of continued heavy to very heavy rainfall in the Northeast region for the next 48 hours, heightening concerns about further damage and disruptions.

Matsiewdor War, executive director of the Meghalaya State Disaster Management Authority (MSDMA), reported incidents of the natural disaster from various districts.
