Meghalaya: Minister says there are shortcomings in tackling substance abuse issue
Guwahati, May 6 -- Social Welfare Minister Paul Lyngdoh claimed that there were some deficiencies in addressing the problem of substance abuse in Meghalayastatingthat there was a need for enhanced enforcement of the rule of law.
He asserted that the ongoing recruitment process in the Police Department will bolster efforts,particularlythrough the Anti-Narcotic Task Force.
Responding to the visible drug peddling on city streets, Lyngdoh said that there is a necessity for remedial actions, including public involvement in anti-drug operations.
He mentioned initiatives such as a high-level meeting chaired by the Chief Minister, which involved leaders from faith organizations and educational institutions.
