IMPHAL, May 7 -- Manipur government has allocated Rs 6.90 crore to offer relief materials and compensation to families affected by the destructive hailstorms that struck various locations across the state.

In response to the calamity, authorities have established 42 relief camps in different districts across Manipur, providing shelter to hundreds of individuals whose homes were ravaged by the severe weather conditions.

According to preliminary assessments, over 15,000 houses suffered damage due to the hailstorms and heavy rainfall on Sunday (May 05), although a final evaluation is pending.

Manipur chief minister N Biren Singh announced these measures while speaking to the media in Imphal on Monday (May 06) evening.
