New Delhi, May 9 -- On April 26, the Supreme Court delivered a historic verdict as it rejected the plea for a 100% cross verification of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) data with Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) records. The Supreme Court also categorically ruled out a return to the ballot paper system of voting. This verdict of the Supreme Court has come as a major blow to a considerable section of the Indian politicians, media commentators and 'political analysts' who had always cast a shadow on the integrity on the voting process taking place through EVMs.
