Afghanistan, May 2 -- Health sources at the Samangan Provincial Hospital confirmed that following a traffic accident on the Kabul-Balkh highway (Dara-e-Souf to Balkh), five individuals, including a child, lost their lives, and 21 others were injured.

Sayed Osman Hamidi, the hospital's administrator, Dr. Karamuddin Wakilzada, stated on Thursday, May 2nd, that the incident occurred in the "Chapchal" area along the highway in Dara-e-Souf District, Samangan Province.

He said the accident happened when a "Dina" type vehicle veered off the road.

Mr. Hamidi added that the injured were rushed to the Dara-e-Souf Hospital and the burnt market in Dara-e-Souf, with their conditions reported as critical.
