Hyderabad, April 17 -- Despite collecting Rs. 1921 crore in property tax during the financial year 2023-24, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) encountered cheques totalling approximately Rs. 11 crore bouncing. Consequently, GHMC has initiated actions against the defaulting taxpayers.

According to GHMC sources, as of April 16, 39 FIRs had been lodged in various police stations across the city. Thirteen cases were registered in Chandangar, eight in Yusufguda, five in Jubilee Hills, and four each in Serilingampally, Qutbullahpur, and Moosapet, with one case in Kukatpally.
