Hyderabad, April 17 -- The Election Commission of India (ECI) issued a notice to Leader of the Opposition and BRS President K Chandrasekhar Rao for his alleged derogatory remarks against the Congress Party during a recent press conference in Sircilla.

The ECI has directed the BRS chief to clarify his stance on his remarks by 11 am on April 18. Failure to do so may result in appropriate action being taken against him. Acting on a complaint filed by Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee Senior Vice President G Niranjan, the Election Commission of India stated that the former chief minister had violated the election code of conduct by criticizing the Congress party during a press conference in Sircilla on April 5.
