Hyderabad, April 6 -- The Congress party has nominated Narayanan Sri Ganesh as its candidate for the Secunderabad Cantonment Assembly Constituency bye-election.

In a press release on Saturday, All India Congress General Secretary KC Venugopal announced Sri Ganesh's candidacy.

Sri Ganesh contested the Cantonment Assembly constituency on a BJP ticket in the assembly elections held late last year, securing 40,000 votes and finishing second. BRS candidate Lasya Nandita had won from this constituency. However, in January this year, MLA Lasya Nandita tragically passed away in a road accident, resulting in a vacancy in this constituency.
