India, May 1 -- One of the key accused in the firing incident outside Bollywood actor Salman Khans Mumbai residence attempted suicide in police custody, media reports said.

He was rushed to hospital where he died while receiving medical treatment.

The man, identified as 32-year-old Anuj Thapan, was accused of providing weapons to two shooters who fired shots outside Salman Khans house in Mumbai, reported India Today.

Anuj Thapan and another accused Sonu Subhash Chander were arrested from Punjab on April 25.

Two unidentified men on a motorcycle fired five rounds in the air outside Khans Bandra home at 5 AM before fleeing from the scene last month.

A bullet also hit the first floor of the building where Khan resides, police said.
