New Delhi/IBNS, May 2 -- Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena has sacked 223 employees of the womens commission in a major move against the appointments made by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government earlier, media reports said.

It is alleged that former Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) chairperson Swati Maliwal made those appointments violating rules.

The Lieutenant Governors office claims 223 new posts were created without the approval of the LG while it has a sanctioned strength of 40 posts.

Further, the enhancement of the remuneration and allowances to the staff of DCW was without adequate justification and in violation of the laid down procedures and guidelines, a probe said as quoted by NDTV.
