Manipur, April 22 -- A joint operation led by Assam Rifles successfully prevented a potential infiltration attempt by valley based insurgent groups near the Indo-Myanmar border in Kamjong district, Manipuron April 17.

The operation, which involved columns of 8 Assam Rifles and 40 Assam Rifles, was launched following credible intelligence reports, as per a statement.

It said that the operation was concentrated in the general area of the Makhlangkhong River corridor along the border. Intelligence sources confirmed the infiltration of suspected individuals along the Makhlangkhong River axis towards village Kangkum, under the jurisdiction of Kasom Khullen Police Station.
