Ethiopia, Jan. 15 -- Fourteen former employees of the Metals and Engineering Corporation (METEC) have been charged with grand corruption.

The defendants are Major General Kinfe Dagnew, former head of the Corporation, Col. Berhe Woldemichael, Col. Mulu Woldegebriel, Brig. Gen. Tena Kurundi Ejeta Col. Tekeste Hailemariam Adhanom, Solomon Hailemichael Asgedom and Col. Mohammed Ibrahim Hagos.

The other defendants are Capt. Solomon Abrha Alemu, Col. Alemu Shemelis Berhan, Col. Azeb Tadesse Hailu, Capt. Yikunoamlak Tesfaye Hagezom, Capt. Semere Haile Hagos, Mr Mohd Rafi H, and Usman Abdu Wahbrebi.

They were charged with corruption related to the procurement of two vessels, said a judge at the 15th criminal bench of the Federal High Court.
