Varanasi, Feb. 19 -- Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged off the first-ever diesel-to-electric converted locomotive at the Diesel Locomotive Works here on Tuesday. After reaching Varanasi in the morning, the Prime Minister moved to the DLW to flag off the locomotive.

DLW, Varanasi, has converted a diesel locomotive to run on electric traction at almost twice the power. Later, Mr Modi visited temple of Sant Ravidas, the mystic-poet saint of the Bhakti movement during the 15th century, and paid tributes to him on the occasion of his birth anniversary.
