Dhaka, Jan. 17 -- Members of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) in separate drives arrested five people for creating fake accounts on social media Facebook using the name of Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

The identity of the arrestees and further details will be disclosed at a press briefing later in the day, said a message of the elite force.

Sources at Rab headquarters, however, said the arrests were made on charges of cybercrimes.

The detainees used to deceive people, extort money and spread propaganda by creating fake profiles of the prime minister, her family members and other national leaders, they added.

They were also involved in spreading rumour, fake and anti-government statements in the social networking site.
