Dhaka, Jan. 17 -- The computer-based interlocking system at Kamalapur Railway Station which was damaged in a fire on Wednesday returned to normalcy early Thursday following necessary repair, resuming the regular railway activities.

The digital signaling system started working again from around 1 am, said a Railways Ministry release.

It also said trains are now running on schedules.

The fire originated at the relay room on the first floor of the main building of Kamalapur Railway Station around 6:30pm on Wednesday, damaging the computer-based interlocking system.

Bangladesh Railway officials and members of GRP and Railway Nirapatta Bahini doused the fire within minutes using fire extinguishers.
