Bangladesh, Feb. 19 -- Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader said on Monday it is the jurisdiction of the court to decide on imposing a ban on the politics of the Jamaat-e-Islami which had opposed Bangladesh's 1971 independence and whose several leaders were executed for their crimes against humanity committed during the Liberation War.

"A case is being run in the court over banning Jamaat. So, it is the jurisdiction of the court to decide on banning Jamaat's politics," Quader, also Awami League general secretary, told a press conference after a secretariat meeting of the party at the AL president's Dhanmondi political office.
