, Jan. 7 -- haka: An eco-conscious luxury hotel graces the Maldives as Crown and Champa Resorts opens its latest property - Kudadoo Maldives Private Island by Hurawalhi in Lhayivani Atoll.

The resort has 15 villas which are fuelled by the sun. Each one has almost a thousand solar panels generating 300kW of electricity. Yuji Yamazaki Architecture has designed the island retreat. Architectural Digest has recognized it as one of the Hottest Designed Hotels in 2019.

An official from the resort said, "Traditionally, solar panels are hidden in discreet areas in the Maldives and it does not have any other function, but in Kudadoo, the photovoltaic roof is decidedly visible and becomes the icon of the place."
