Rourkela, Jan. 17 -- Residents of the steel city are a distraught lot after the Rourkela Municipal Corporation hiked the holding tax. Earlier, the residents of the city had demanded discussions on the increase in holding tax. They even alleged that the move by the Municipal Commissioner to hike the tax was illegal in the absence of the elected council members of the corporation, sources added.
A meeting organised at the Municipal library hall to address the grievances of the tax payers today yielded no results after it was called off amidst uproar.
