Sambalpur, Jan. 9 -- Police today arrested the key accused in the abduction of the 10-year-old boy, who had managed to escape from captivity in Kuchinda area of Sambalpur yesterday.
The kidnapper identified as Niranjan Sunani had abducted the minor boy from Gundurchuan village and demanded a ransom of Rs 1 lakh.
According to the police, Sunani kidnapped the boy as he wanted Rs 1 lakh to meet the expenses for his marriage ceremony.
"After kidnapping the boy, the accused stole a phone from a shop. Later he called the relative of the boy and asked for a ransom of Rs 1 lakh. We have arrested the accused and he will be forwarded to court today," Kuchinda SDPO Nrupacharan Dandsena said.
