New Delhi, Jan. 10 -- With a minimum temperature of 6 degrees Celsius, a notch below the season's average, the Delhi woke up to a cold Thursday morning.

"There was shallow to moderate fog in the morning. The city will witness mist throughout the day," an India Meteorological Department (IMD) official said.

With the continuing cold conditions and moist westerly winds, the overall Air Quality Index recorded at 303, moving the air quality towards upper level of the 'very poor' category, the System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting and Research said.

A highly unfavourable condition was witnessed for pollutants to disperse with humidity at 97 per cent at 8.30 am.
